Prospect Water Filtration Plant

  • Location:Sydney, NSW
  • Category:Major Infrastructure
  • Client:GHD/Jacobs (formerly Egis/SKM)
  • Detail:Detailing world leading water filtration plant

Opened in 1996, Prospect Water Filtration Plant was a part of the evolution to meet the increasing demand for reliable water supply in Sydney. The plant supplies drinking water to 85% of Sydney’s 5.6 million residents and remains one of the largest water filtration plants in the world. It can supply around 3,000 million litres of drinking water each day.

Due to the large scope of this project, Egis (now GHD) and SKM (now Jacobs) formed ‘The Prospect Group.’ They were preparing to engage at least 9 contract structural drafters to cope with the workload when Latter Rain approached them and upon demonstrating our abilities were immediately given the task. We had already written world-leading CAD software specializing in reinforced concrete (DRC Concrete) that reduced documentation time and were able to complete all structural elements with only 2 drafters several months ahead of all the other disciplines.
