For 25 years until 1996, Beatrice Bush sold newspapers every day at the intersection of Victoria Road and The Crescent, White Bay, Sydney. Her unique appearance with her beloved Balmain Tigers socks, resilience and old-school endurance endeared her to locals and passers-by of nearly 70,000 vehicles daily. In 2004, in memory of her, the RMS named a new pedestrian/cycleway bridge.
Cardno were the designers and Latter Rain were engaged to detail this 160m long, horseshoe shaped steel box culvert bridge spanning Victoria Road on the northern approach to Sydney’s iconic Anzac bridge.
