RMS (now TfNSW) Asset Management engaged Latter Rain early in 2015 to begin creating intelligent 3D models for Sydney’s inner-city infrastructure. The initial challenge was finding a way to import metadata embedded in these 3D super-models of predominantly bridges and tunnels into RMS bespoke software that had no facility to import any embedded data.
Arcadis engaged Latter Rain to produce animations for a suburban level crossing replacement. Their request was for a 30 second video of 2 options showing a fly through with vehicle movements, all on a very restricted budget.
Arcadis were again wanting to embrace this new standard when asked to provide a government body with a 4 minute video for a highway bypass of a country town. This government body wanted an engaging video that put their presentation to stakeholders and a very concerned country town in the best possible light
Brisbane City Council (BCC) followed the lead of TfNSW and embraced digital asset management by creating a digital twin of the iconic Story Bridge.
This new expressway creates a safer, more efficient freight transport route, cuts travel times between major urban hubs, and reduces the traffic burden on regional highways and local roads
The $4.8 billion Airport Link project includes three separate projects – the Northern Busway, a 3km two-way dedicated busway, the Airport Roundabout Upgrade and Airportlink M7 (a 6.7km toll road including 5.2km of tunnel).
This 705m long cable-stayed bridge spans the Saigon River in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam as an important transport link from the southern Mekong delta region to the central and northern parts of Vietnam
The 113m long Nan-Tien project involved the design of a new pedestrian footbridge over Princes Motorway near Wollongong, NSW
Opened in 1996, Prospect Water Filtration Plant was a part of the evolution to meet the increasing demand for reliable water supply in Sydney.
Latter Rain were called on by project engineers, SCP Consulting to detail over 300 drawings. Our vast experience of shop-detailing post-tensioned structures (over 7000 drawings), enabled us to provide SCP with detail drawings 85% complete prior to any engineering mark-ups. Engineers’ involvement was reduced to initial design runs and final checking.
Bonifacio Global City (BGC), is a 26sq km rich financial and lifestyle district in Manila, Philippines. Established after the sale of Fort Bonifacio military camp in 1995, a major urban development and business district was planned, which would to have its own substantial utilities able to service a small city.
Cardno were the designers and Latter Rain were engaged to detail this 160m long, horseshoe shaped steel box culvert bridge spanning Victoria Road on the northern approach to Sydney’s iconic Anzac bridge.
We are all now on the cusp of a rapid evolution of how these 3D models are used. 4D BIM is the addition of ‘Time,’ 5D is the incorporation of ‘Cost,’ 6D will add ‘Sustainability.’ 7D BIM encompasses the ‘management’ of the structure for the duration of the structure’s life, beginning with initial design right through to the end of life.
