In 2010, Rouse Hill Town Centre was named one of the five best new developments in the world. The top accolade was announced by the global body, Urban Land Institute (ULI). The ULI describes Rouse Hill Town Centre as an ecologically-conscious regional shopping centre incorporating sustainable design, great architecture, retail, and active public spaces to deliver an authentic Australian town center.
The $1 billion development in Sydney’s North West has 220 retailers, 104 apartments, 2800sq metres of offices, 10 restaurants and 9 Reading cinemas. The entire centre was constructed over a suspended podium slab with sunken roadway structure concealing approx. 3000 underground carparking spaces.
Latter Rain were called on by project engineers, SCP Consulting to detail over 300 drawings. Our vast experience of shop-detailing post-tensioned structures (over 7000 drawings), enabled us to provide SCP with detail drawings 85% complete prior to any engineering mark-ups. Engineers’ involvement was reduced to initial design runs and final checking. This resulted in a significant reduction in engineering costs and deadlines were met easily.
